6 year Mutlisport athlete, 3x Ironman Finisher, 8x 70.3 Finisher, 22x Marathon Finisher. The coaches at Tribal Mutltisport lead by example and the athletes are fiercely competitive yet supportive to the rest of the tribe. They all push me beyond the limits I thought I had. I am receiving an education and increasing my skills through the coaches.
As a Command Sergeant Major in the US Army Reserves, I am always on the move. I have 22 Companies in 8 states and 3 time-zones so I travel almost every weekend. With my full time civilian career and commitments to the Army, finding balance is key to my personal, professional, and military life. As a kid I watched Kona on TV and thought I could do that, race a triathlon. While stationed in Tampa, I signed up to race in my first sprint triathlon and fell in love, I have not looked back since. I have had a few top 10 finishes at local races stretching from Florida to Texas and in Washington DC where I now live. My wife (and in my book the best sherpa ever) encouraged me to fulfill a dream of racing a full for my 45th birthday. That year I signed up for IRONMAN Cozumel 140.6 and IRONMAN Raleigh 70.3. It was at IRONMAN Raleigh 70.3 where I met Nick. After all the hard work and training for my race season in 2015, I was burned out. My coach, at that time, did not understand the demands of my schedule and thus increasing my lack of motivation. I needed a change. My search began for a new coach. The right coach for me would not only hold me accountable but also understand the demands on my schedule. I spoke with a couple of different coaches and half way through my 2016 season chose Nick. This was definitely the right decision! With Nick’s coaching, I qualified for IRONMAN AWA Bronze 70.3 in two races. My goal for 2017 is to attain AWA Silver 70.3 and put myself in position to qualify for the 70.3 World Championships in 2019. My second 140.6 will be for my 50th birthday in 2020. With Nick as my coach I will be in Nice, France in 2019. One day I will make it to the big Island and race!
I was born and raised in Germany. I met my now husband and moved to the US 24 years ago. My husband is in the military so we move every so often. Currently we live in Silver Spring, MD with our two cats. We have to adult children – one just graduated college and the other one just completed his Freshman Year. I am a Certified Nurse-Midwife and am currently working on my PhD in Nursing. I hope to graduate next year. I chose to not work to focus on this degree. I switched to triathlon, because I needed to force myself to do more than running. I hope to get back on track with my training and maybe go back to competing at the Half IronMan distance.
